> *Pulled from* [[3-companion_strings-(Bannerlord)]] — “My father was a merchant. When he died, he left his children a small inheritance. Most went to my brothers. They headed east, to the lands of the Padishah, leaving me in charge of our interests in Calradia. For me to step into my father's shoes, and be treated as an equal by other merchants, I knew I had to make a lot of money in a short time or they would elbow me out of the market.”

> *Pulled from* [[3-settlements-(Bannerlord)]] — “The town that the Khuzaits know as Akkalat, the White Fortress, was built by the fearsome *Padishah Hoshtar* on one of his periodic attempts to conquer the Devseg. For decades the sacred flame that burned from the top of the citadel symbolized his suzerainty over the tribes here. But the Padishah's realm like the Empire is on the defensive and has retreated to the east. Today the Khan's horsetail banners fly in its place.” — “The frontier city of Danustica dominates the network of lakes and lagoons known as the Calsea. It has long held the line against incursions by the Aserai and various Darshi shahs and padishahs further to the east. Many an imperial legionary stationed here has scribbled graffiti on its walls cursing the city's sweltering summers, brackish water and the mosquitos that rise from the Calsea, but the inhabitants are proud of their role as border defenders and mock the soldiers wilting in the heat around them.” — “”

> *Pulled from* [[3-spclans-(Bannerlord)]] — <-- Head of clan - Queen, niece of the emperor, raised abroad, blood of the Padishah as well. Queen's consort - of imperial birth, charismatic but vindictive. Queen's lieutenant. Queen's younger brother and sister - good natured. -->
> - (*Note*: the *Queen* mentioned here is Rhagaea Pethros, leader of the Southern Empire)
>
> The Khuzaits thundered into the steppes west of Lake Baetiros two generations ago, driving other nomads before them. They and their vassal tribes, the Khergit and the Arkit, seized some of the cities on the fringe of the empire. They grew rich on the caravans from the lands of the Padishah to the east, trading in their yurts for carpeted palaces. But they still lead raids into the heart of the empire, their swift horse archers spreading terror for leagues around their armies.

> *Pulled from* [[3-std_taleworlds_campaignsystem-(Bannerlord)]] — “For all the silks of the Padishah. For all the Emperor's gold. For all the spice in the distance East...”
>
> *Pulled from* [[3-Travels-in-Calradia-(DLC)]] — “The Karakhergit often stopped alongside the road to trade with passing farmers and other travelers. The further south we went, I noticed, the nomads had more and more difficulty speaking with travelers in their own language, and the more they were forced to rely upon an 'argot', the trade language of the steppes, a mixture of simple Khuzait, Imperial and Darshi. words mixed with expansive hand gestures. The Devseg plateau is a jumble of people, waves upon waves coming in from the great grasslands to the east before breaking on these shores. Some were fleeing enemies and found refuge in the high mountain valleys, others were seeking some stability and chose to live in the well-watered lowlands, paying whatever tribute they needed to Khan, Emperor or Padishah to be left in peace.”
>
> *Pulled from* [[3-world_lore_strings-(Bannerlord)]] — “Founded in 920 when steppe horsemen led by the Khan Urkhun overran an earlier imperial client kingdom, itself made up of civilized former raiders, that had guarded the caravan routes leading to the lands of the Padishah. Consists of wealthy trading cities and settled former nomads, recognized by the Empire as overlords of its eastern frontier.” — (*Note*: these lines are spoken by Olypos and Lucon of the Northern Empire) “Arenicos was a good emperor, all told. But if he indeed named Rhagaea his heir, and that is not just a lie, it shows that even the best of men may be seized by madness. The daughter of the former Padishah? How do we know she won't just serve us to her people on a plate.” — (*Note*: these lines are spoken by Garios, leader of the Western Empire) “I want everyone in the Empire to know that there is no better way in life to get ahead than to become a soldier. I want to hand out land. I want to give them pensions when they retire. I want them to hold high public office. And they should get to choose the Emperor. I don't know if Arenicos really named Rhagaea as Empress, or if that's one of her lies, and I don't care. What I do know is this: I don't want this empire run by a Padishah's daughter. It needs a soldier-emperor. It needs me.”
Hoshtar may be blood-related to Rhagaea Pethros, empress of the Southern Empire.
