![[about_calradica_banner_2.webp]] # Vaegir > Vaegir are based off the Varangian Guard, [^8] who themselves are made up of *Nords* (i.e. Greenland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland) [^25] but also *Scandinavians* (i.e. Poland, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine), [^5] [^6] and later also including *Anglo-Saxons* (i.e. Welsh, Frankish (French), and English). [^7]
*Vaegir* Historically, real-life Vikings came from all of these localities. But for the sake of simplicity however let’s say *Mount & Blade’s* Nords come specifically from [[Nordland-Cnty.]] and they conquered [[Jumne-Isl]], which I suspect is Denmark, the island shown [here](https://youtu.be/IA0YoFBX60M?si=lqYdBq6sbNJrXwQk&t=39), [^34] bringing it and its people into the Northern Empire [^33] – maybe also [[Balion-Isl.]] too, aka Albion / England. [^32]

For potential homes of the Nords and subsequently [[Nordland-Cnty.]], we have Greenland or “*Grønland*” [^27], Iceland whose old name is “*Snæland*” [^28], and Sweden also known as “*Svealand*” who I think is the likeliest contender. [^30] When it comes to the possible homes of the [[Vaegir]] people and the region of [[Jumne-Isl]], first we have Denmark, also known as “*Danmǫrk* or *Danir-border*”, which I personally believe is Jumne in the *Mount & Blade* universe. [^29] Next we have Norway whose ancient name is “*Noregr*” which I think is probably where the Vaegir hail from originally, [^31] finally we have Finland – the people were called finns, but old Norse also calls them “*finnr*” which could turn Finland into “*Finnr-land*” – another potential home to the Vaegir but less likely in my opinion.
