# Bannerlord Factions ![[factions_banner.webp]] `May. 5, 2025` · [[Horseapple]] · #Cluster #Factions #Bannerlord > [!custom-callout]+ [[Blog_50_Map_Design_Castles]] > “In our faction overview blogs, we talked about the cultures and peoples that influenced the design of each of the factions of Calradia, and how this provided us with a solid base to build on and create our own take on this period of history. Using real-world cultures in this way gives us the advantage of having a wealth of historical sources and knowledge to take inspiration from and allows us to cherry-pick the parts which we find interesting and exciting to include in the game.”
— TaleWorlds
## Portals 1 — all in-game factions | [NORTHERN EMPIRE](Northern-Empire.md) | [SOUTHERN EMPIRE](Southern-Empire.md) | [WESTERN EMPIRE](Western-Empire.md) | | :---------------------------------------------------------: | :---------------------------------------------------------: | :---------------------------------------------------------: | | [![[northern-empire-banner.webp\|200]]](Northern-Empire.md) | [![[southern-empire-banner.webp\|200]]](Southern-Empire.md) | [![[western-empire-banner.webp\|200]]](Western-Empire.md) | | [KHUZAIT KHANATE](Khuzait-Khanate.md) | [KINGDOM of VLANDIA](Kingdom-of-Vlandia.md) | [PRINCIPALITY of STURGIA](Principality-of-Sturgia.md) | | [![[khuzait-banner.webp\|200]]](Khuzait-Khanate.md) | [![[vlandia-banner.webp\|200]]](Kingdom-of-Vlandia.md) | [![[sturgia-banner.webp\|200]]](Principality-of-Sturgia.md) | | [ASERAI SULTANATE](Aserai-Sultanate.md) | [HIGH KINGDOM of BATTANIA](High-Kingdom-of-Battania.md) | | :----------------------------------------------: | :--------------------------------------------------------: | | [![[aserai-banner.webp\|200]]](Aserai-Sultanate.md) | [![[battania-banner.webp\|200]]](High-Kingdom-of-Battania.md) | ## Info 1 Those who would be interested in this cluster, would be anyone looking for a quick way to access the eight primary factions of *Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord*. This portal also includes ease-of-access to the eight other factions mentioned in only in the lore, such as the Republics of Geroia and Darshian Empire. --- ## Portals 2 — all lore-only factions | [CALRADIAN EMPIRE](Calradian-Empire.md) | [DARSHIAN EMPIRE](Darshian-Empire) | [ILTANLAR TRIBES](Iltanlar-Tribes) | | :--------------------------------------------------------: | :--------------------------------------------------------: | :----------------------------------------------------: | | [![[calradian-empire-banner.webp\|200]]](Calradian-Empire) | [![[darshian-empire-banner.webp\|200]]](Darshian-Empire) | [![[iltanlar-tribes.webp\|200]]](Iltanlar-Tribes) | | [KANNIC REPUBLIC](Kannic-Republic) | [NORTHERN KINGDOM](Northern-Kingdom) | [PALAIC TRIBES](Palaic-Tribes) | | [![[kannic-republic_2.webp\|200]]](Kannic-Republic) | [![[northern-kingdom-banner.webp\|200]]](Northern-Kingdom) | [![[palaic-tribes-banner_2.webp\|200]]](Palaic-Tribes) | | [REPUBLICS of GEROIA](Republics-of-Geroia) | [VAKKEN TRIBES](Vakken-Tribes) | | :--------------------------------------------------------------: | :--------------------------------------------------: | | [![[republics-of-geroia-banner.webp\|200]]](Republics-of-Geroia) | [![[vakken-tribes-banner.webp\|200]]](Vakken-Tribes) | ## Info two The information gathered for these factions, like their salaries and settlement holdings, derive directly from the in-game starting date of the year `1084`, in `Early Summer` on the `1st Day`. Moreover, any information that could not be gathered from a primary source like from in-game, have been taken from game data (ie. `XMLs`, `PDFs`, and `TXT` files) or other external sources. The reason having all these factions so clearly defined and laid out is beneficial for my project is because, as mentioned before, it provides clarity as to how these factions may act in a realistic manner. Wars are often fought over resources, and in that sense: there are certain settlements a faction absolutely will not be willing to sacrifice for their own ends — realistically, if a kingdom lost a vital region or providence, like when Rome / Byzantium lost Egypt; their breadbasket, they were made 100x weaker in turn.
>
![[encyclopedia_calradica.gif|center|300]]
>*“A massive `Mount & Blade` wikipedia.”*
About [Encyclopædia Calradica](About-the-Encyclopædia.md)
About the [Project](Project-(Pillar).md)
About the [Author](Horseapple.md)
