This region has long stood aloof from the power struggles of the other [[Sturgian]] principalities. Its people are known as wanderers, traders, horse breeders and fur-trappers. The local aristocracy has occasionally exchanged princesses with the steppe tribes ([[Khuzait-Khanate]]) to the east to firm up a truce or a trade pact, and proudly includes the names of several great Khans on their list of ancestors.
