![[battania 1.png]] [[Caladog]] on clan [[fen-Gruffendoc]] and potentially the disappearance of High King, [[Aeril]] > "My family? I was adopted by the [[fen-Gruffendoc]] but really, I have no family. I was sent directly by the Heavens as a gift to the Battanians. They didn't know it, but they needed a strong king." > > "Yes, they needed a strong king, like a herd of cattle on a mountain trail needs a herdsman who knows the trail. Herds in the mountains, you see... Sometimes the stubborn old bulls, set in their ways, wander off the trail and lead the others toward a precipice." > > "The wise herdsman, you see, will slaughter the old bulls to prevent the destruction of the entire herd. And I am a wise herdsman." [[Seonon]], "sad [[Seonon]]", has a history as dark as the waters of the Llyn Tywal. Here [[Algana]] 'the Fair' stood atop the tower lamenting the death of her beloved [[Gorawan]], until the spirits of the [[Otherworld]] were themselves overcome with sadness and allowed his shade to ascend through the pool for a day and a night to console her. In latter days this land has often been ravaged by [[Sturgian]] raiders ([[Principality-of-Sturgia]]), and not far from here lies the wood where High King [[Aeril]] [[fen-Uthelhain]] disappeared, clearing the way for the rise of [[Caladog]] [[fen-Gruffendoc]]. "Uthelaim sits on the eastern frontiers of the [[Battanian]] lands on a ridge overlooking a tributary of "the Myr". The people of these parts are foresters, felling the oak, yew and pine of the woods for sale to builders and shipwrights." (Could be the origin of previous High King, [[Aeril]]'s namesake, [[fen-Uthelhain]].) [[Asaios]]; (See page [[8]].) > I have left the [[Battanian]] lands, and am back in the [[Calradian-Empire]] - for a little while, anyway. I descended from the Uchalion plateau down one of the steep glens that run down its eastern side. The road runs through some of **the most ancient woods in the [[Battanian]] lands, twisted oaks covered with moss, that, thanks to the shadows of the high cliffs, are kept in darkness for most of the day.** (Could be where [[Aeril]] [[fen-Uthelhain]] disappeared.)
